Behind the Scenes: Shaun's Creative Process
The Art of Watercolours
Shaun paints each of these small pictures by hand, drawing inspiration from the Highland scenery around us. Using handmade cotton rag paper and a mix of wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry techniques, he captures light, texture and atmosphere in his signature style. The result is a small but expressive artwork – rich in detail and ready for mounting on a card.
The Materials Shaun Likes to Work With
Shaun works with carefully chosen materials to bring each landscape to life. He paints on handmade cotton rag paper, known for its beautiful texture and ability to hold rich, layered washes and paints. Using Winsor & Newton Professional Watercolours and Princeton brushes, he can achieve the fine detail and subtle blends — essential for capturing the depth and mood of the Highland scenery. He favours colours such as Green Gold, Perylene Green and French Aquamarine by Winsor & Newton
Sustainable Materials: Recycled Card & Paper
Shaun’s Art cards are crafted using 14x14cm card blanks, made in the UK from white recycled paper. Each one is paired with a matching recycled envelope, ensuring the entire product is eco-conscious from start to finish. Shaun provides these cards ‘naked’ to keep them even more sustainable.
