Naked Tealights: Zero-Waste Candlelight for a Greener Home

We designed our Naked Tealights to eliminate unnecessary waste, leaving nothing behind but the gentle glow of candlelight and a tiny metal disc from the wick.

Eco Soy Wax – Pillar Blend

When it comes to candle making, the options for wax can be overwhelming. So how do we decide? For us, sustainability comes first. That means steering clear of petrochemicals and opting for a plant-based, vegan wax that’s kind to the planet as it is to you. But sustainability is only part of the story. We needed a wax that performs beautifully – holding its shape for a ‘naked’ candle and ensuring no messy puddles for you to clean up. After careful consideration, and some testing, we found the perfect match in eco-friendly soy pillar candle wax, delivering the durability we need without compromising our eco values.

Earth Friendly Wick

We use unbleached wicks made from cotton and a paper thread, specially designed for natural waxes like soy and rapeseed. Unlike some wicks coated with paraffin, ours are clean-burning, self-trimming, and minimise shooting or mushrooming. Perfect for a sustainable, toxin-free candle experience.

Our top tips for burning candles safely:
  • Choose a Safe Spot: Always place candles on a flat, heatproof surface, away from draughts, children, pets, and anything flammable.
  • Maintain Distance: If burning multiple candles, ensure they are at least 3 inches apart to prevent overheating.
  • Watch and Burn Wisely: Never leave a lit candle unattended. Keep it within eyesight and never burn for longer than 4 hours at a time.
  • Perfect the Burn: Trim the wick to 5mm before each use and allow the candle to burn until the melt pool reaches the edge.
  • Extinguish Properly:  Never burn your candle to the very bottom of the jar to avoid overheating and cracking the container.
Avoiding Candle Tunnelling

Have you ever noticed a candle burning only in the centre, leaving a tunnel and wasted wax around the edges?  This happens for one of two reasons:

  1. The wick might not be the right size.  A carefully selected and properly tested wick is essential for both the safety and performance of the candle.
  2. You may have extinguished the candle too soon during its first burn.

To prevent tunnelling, ensure your candle’s first burn lasts long enough for the melted wax to reach the edges of the jar creating a ‘full wax pool’.  On subsequent burns, the candle will follow this path, allowing you to enjoy all the fragranced wax without waste.

By following these simple steps you will get the most out of your candle and ensure it burns evenly and beautifully every time.
