Toilet Bomb Recipe
Toilet Bomb really does give the wrong impression, but that is what folks are calling them. You get more of a fizz than an explosion. But that’s probably a good thing!
You will need:
300g Bicarbonate of Soda
75g Citric Acid
25g Hydrogen Peroxide
2.5ml of White Vinegar
20-30 drops of an Essential Oil
Wear Gloves and prepare in a well ventilated area:
Weigh out your dry ingredients into a glass bowl. Sprinkle over your Essential Oil. I personally used Rosemary and Eucalyptus, as these have quite a refreshing and powerful scent when combined. Mix the essential oils into the dry ingredients well.
Combine the White Vinegar and the Hydrogen Peroxide (I buy food grade from Amazon). Very slowly (a tablespoon at a time) add the vinegar solution to your dry mix. Do not pour it in all at once, as it will fizz up then and that will be it activated and useless. You may not use all the white vinegar mix either so have a labelled jar handy to save the rest for another batch. Stir through, keep adding the vinegar solution and stirring until it all clumps together. Once you can squeeze it in your hand and it stays in shape then its ready.
Place the mixture into a silicon mini cake mould or ice cube tray. Make sure they are flexible otherwise removing them will be difficult. Cover them with an old tea towel and leave them to ‘dry’ out over night. The next morning they should be solid enough to take out of the moulds. I like to keep them in a kilner jar. I think they look pretty cool.
