A solid shampoo bar is a simple, low-waste alternative to conventional bottles,  producing a rich, creamy lather that spreads effortlessly through your hair.  Ideal for those following a no-poo regime.

Perfect for soft water areas, it works with your hair’s natural balance for daily care.

For best results, follow with our apple cider vinegar hair rinse—a natural way to remove mineral buildup, smooth the cuticle, and leave your hair shining with health.  You can find our simple DIY ACV rinse recipe here.

How to Use:

Lather the bar in wet hands, or gently over wet hair, massage from root to tip, and rinse.  Repeat if necessary, then follow with your ACV rinse.

Make the switch to a natural, plastic-free haircare routine and enjoy a fresh, invigorating start to your day.

A Guide to the Essential Oils in our Creamy Yet Invigorating Shampoo Bar:

Peppermint essential oil in fresh facial bar for cleansing
Peppermint Essential Oil – Mentha piperita Oil

Peppermint grows the world over and is renowned for its menthol content. Menthol reacts with the receptors in our skin to create a cooling sensation. It is also known for its refreshing taste and scent, which is why peppermint oil is prevalent in toothpaste and mouthwashes.  Equally, we love the cleansing benefits of peppermint oil too.

Rosemary Essential Oil
Organic Rosemary Essential Oil – Rosmarinus officinalis leaf oil.

Our product includes Rosemary Essential Oil extracted from the evergreen stems of the herb grown in North Africa. It has anti-inflammatory properties that calm and soothe, making it ideal for our soaps and shampoos. It’s also renowned for its hair benefits. Check out our DIY scalp and hair oil for more information.

Eucalyptus essential oil in fresh facial bar for cleansing
Eucalyptus Essential Oil – Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil

Eucalyptus oil is a popular essential oil. This variety comes from the steam distillation of the leaves and twigs of the tall Australian tree renowned as the home of koalas. It is a cleansing and purifying oil with a refreshing and invigorating scent. It’s a great addition to our shampoo bar and perfect for use at the start of your busy day.

More Information about Solid Shampoo
Soap or Syndet?

If you struggle to understand the difference between a bar of solid shampoo and a shampoo soap you are not alone. The best way to tell is to look at the ingredients list.

We know that ingredient lists don’t make any sense to most of us so here are a few tips on what to look out for:

If your shampoo or syndet bar contains Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate SLSA it’s synthetic (hence the name; syndet or synthetic detergent).

A more natural solid shampoo might use Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate (SCI) oSodium Coco-Sulfate (SCS). These ingredients are plant-based, naturally derived surfactants. They are somewhat milder than their synthetic counterparts.

If your shampoo bar contains a list of ingredients such as Sodium olivate, Sodium cocoate, Sodium avocadoate, Sodium castorate, Sodium neemate, it is a shampoo soap.

What difference does it make?

The answer depends on where you live (hard or soft water, as we have discussed) and what sensitivities you experience. The main thing to remember when you decide is the pH in soap is higher than your hair and scalp. Hence, the recommended apple cider vinegar rinse. An ACV rinse reduces the pH of the hair and scalp. However, the percentage of natural ingredients in soap is higher than in a syndet bar, even if they have added plant extracts and essential oils. For us, with allergies and sensitivities to surfactants, the choice was simple.

Does the Shampoo Bar Have a Preservative?

No, it is not necessary to add preservatives to solid soaps because they don’t contain any water.  In addition, very little in the way of bacteria grows in soap. But do keep your shampoo bar as dry as possible between uses.
