Whisky Cask Creations: Sustainable, Scottish, Timeless
We take the lids and the staves of deconstructed casks to make many of our wood products. We love working with the whisky casks. To create beautiful things for the home with them is the ultimate in sustainability and provenance and is so thoroughly Scottish.
Some Info on Casks
Whisky is matured in casks for a minimum of three years. Previously the casks will have been used to mature sherry, port, another whisky or beer. Its previous use all influences the final flavour of the whisky. The casks must be made of oak as oak is the only wood that prevents seepage and allows the whisky to breathe. A cooper is responsible for making, maintaining, and repairing casks. A cask can last for 60 years, be used several times, and is often returned to the cooperage several times for repair during its lifetime.
