Laying the Groundwork: The First Step in the Infinity Knot
It all starts with creating the pen ‘blank; this is carefully shaped from small pieces of wood, in this case deconstructed whisky casks. These are cut to the correct size and shape on a bandsaw. Next precise 45-degree cuts are made in the blank, forming the foundation for the intricate infinity knot design.
Next Step: Fitting the Veneer
Thin layers of colourful veneer, like red-dyed pine, are carefully fitted into the cuts, forming the basis of the infinity knot.
Turning: Revealing the Infinity Knot
The pen blank is the securely atached to the lathe, where it is carefully turned to shape, gradually revealing the intricate infinity knot design within.
