From Garden Tree to Kitchen Board
Our Highland Birch Board begins its journey in our woodland garden. Carefully selected for its character, the wood was cut and allowed to season naturally. Each board is then shaped by hand, preserving a live edge that reflects the tree’s natural form.
Clean, Sand and Finish:
The Birch is meticulously sanded to a high sheen to reveal the natural chatoyancy. We then treat the board with multiple coats of Odie’s oil, buffed in between applications, to achieve a smooth, tactile finish that highlights the grain and depth of the wood.
The Finishing Touches
The reclaimed cast iron handle is added not only for function but to give each board a sense of history and connection to traditional craftsmanship. The result is a kitchen board that is as beautiful as it is practical – a piece of the Highlands for your home.
Caring for your Highland Birch Kitchen Board:
To preserve the timeless elegance of your serving board we recommend the following:
- Gently hand wash using a soft brush or wet cloth
- Avoid submerging your serving board in water and never put it in the dishwasher.
- After washing, stand it in an upright position to air-dry completely
- Occasionally apply a touch of food safe finishing oil (such as walnut) to maintain its shine and natural beauty.
