Discover the Benefits of our Fresh Facial Bar.

Our Fresh Facial Bar provides a range of benefits for your skin. It gently cleanses the skin to clear pores and remove bacteria. In addition, the essential oils create a fresh scent that imparts a little aromatherapy each morning. That’s a great way to start the day.

A Guide to the Essential Oils in our Fresh Facial Bar:

Peppermint essential oil in fresh facial bar for cleansing
Peppermint Essential Oil – Mentha piperita Oil

Peppermint grows the world over and is renowned for its menthol content. Menthol reacts with the receptors in our skin to create a cooling sensation. It is also known for its refreshing taste and scent, which is why peppermint oil is prevalent in toothpaste and mouthwashes.  Equally, we love the cleansing benefits of peppermint oil too.  In fact, we have also put it in our shampoo.

Eucalyptus essential oil in fresh facial bar for cleansing
Eucalyptus Essential Oil – Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil

Eucalyptus oil is a popular essential oil. This variety comes from the steam distillation of the leaves and twigs of the tall Australian tree renowned as the home of koalas. It is a cleansing and purifying oil with a refreshing and invigorating scent. It’s a great addition to our fresh facial bar and perfect for use at the start of your busy day.

lavender
Lavender Essential Oil – Lavandula angustifolia herb oil.

Lavender’s long history in therapeutic medicine, fragrances, and cosmetics is legendary. Lavender Essential Oil is soothing, promotes sleep, and is generally safe for all skin types. The plant is grown in southern France, renowned for its lavender fields. The herb is then steam distilled to produce the essential oil well known for its beautiful aroma. With this in mind, we had to include Lavender Oil in our fresh facial bar.

The Unique Charm of Artisan Soap

Glycerin is a by-product of soap making. Since glycerin is a moisturising agent, it is often removed from the soap and added to lotions and creams. Whereas, in artisan soap making, glycerin is left where it naturally occurs. This results in a more moisturising bar of soap that is less drying on your skin.

Keep Your Soap Dry

Because glycerin attracts water, keep your soap dry between uses for best results. Keep your fresh facial bar on a soap dish that has good drainage and never leave the bar sitting in the water. Try one of our Whisky Cask Soap Dishes.

How Soap is Made

Soap is made by mixing fatty acids (in oils) with lye (made from sodium hydroxide – or caustic soda).  The chemical process called saponification splits the fatty acids from the glycerol and creates a solid soap which is in fact a salt.

Does the Fresh Facial Bar have a Preservative?

No, it is not necessary to add preservatives to solid soaps because they don’t contain any water.  In addition, very little in the way of bacteria grows in soap.
