A Guide to the Essential Oils in our Floral Body Soap
Organic Lavender Essential Oil – Lavandula angustifolia herb oil.
Lavender’s long history in therapeutic medicine, fragrances, and cosmetics is legendary. Lavender Essential Oil is soothing, promotes sleep, and is generally safe for all skin types. The plant is grown in southern France, renowned for its lavender fields. The herb is then steam distilled to produce the essential oil well known for its beautiful aroma. With this in mind, we had to include Lavender Oil in our Floral Body Soap.
Organic Rosemary Essential Oil – Rosmarinus officinalis leaf oil.
We love Rosemary Essential Oil for its therapeutic properties. Our rosemary essential oil is steam-distilled in North Africa from the evergreen stems of this famous herb. Rosemary is known for its anti-inflammatory properties that help to calm and soothe. Because of these qualities, this beautiful-smelling herb earned its place in our soaps and shampoo.
Organic Rose Geranium Essential Oil – Pelargonium graveolens flower oil.
The Rose Geranium oil provides the delicate floral scent in our hand soap. Our Rose Geranium Essential Oil is steam distilled in Morocco from the leaves, stalks, and flowers of the geranium plant. Because the whole plant’s used to produce this ingredient, it ticks the right ethical boxes for us. Rose Geranium is a beautiful oil that is reviving and uplifting.

The Unique Charm of Artisan Soap
Glycerin is a by-product of soap making. Since glycerin is a moisturising agent, it is often removed from the soap and added to lotions and creams. Whereas, in artisan soap making, glycerin is left where it naturally occurs. This results in a more moisturising bar of soap that is less drying on your skin.
Keep Your Soap Dry
Because glycerin attracts water, keep your soap dry between uses for best results. Keep your floral body soap on a dish that has good drainage and never leave the bar sitting in the water. Try with one of our Whisky Cask Soap Dishes.
How Soap is Made
Soap is made by mixing fatty acids (in oils) with lye (made from sodium hydroxide – or caustic soda). The chemical process called saponification, splits the fatty acids from the glycerol and creates a solid soap which is in fact a salt.
Does the Floral Body Soap have a Preservative?
No, it is not necessary to add preservatives to solid soaps because they don’t contain any water. In addition, very little in the way of bacteria grows in soap.
