Highland Forest Scented Candle

Highland-Inspired Scented Candle: Capturing the Scent of Scotland’s Forests

Our Highland Forest Scented Candle will take you back to your walk in the forest.

Inspired by the beauty of Scotland’s woodlands, we crafted a scented candle that evokes the memory of time spent among the mighty Caledonian pines.  Highland Forest brings you a fresh, woody blend of Scot’s Pine, Juniper Berry, and Patchouli Essential oils, capturing the very essence of the forest.

As always, we carefully warm and blend our eco-friendly, plant-based waxes, and add the pure essential oils at just the right moment to preserve their full goodness.  Each candle is then hand-poured into stylish amber glass jars, adding a touch of elegance and warmth to your space.

A Guide to the Essential Oils in Our Scented Candles:

Caledonian Pine at Glen Affric
Scot’s Pine Essential Oil – Pinus Sylvestris Leaf Oil

We couldn’t create a forest scent without a nod to Scotland’s signature tree, the Caledonian Pine, or Scot’s Pine. Pinus Sylvestris essential oil perfectly captures the essence of the forest, infusing your space with tranquillity and the true scent of nature. With its deep woody aroma, this essential oil promotes a sense of calm and grounding, making it a perfect addition to our forest blend. This amazing Caledonian Pine can be seen from the viewpoint at Loch Affric.

Juniper Berry
Juniper Berry Essential Oil – Juniper Communis Fruit Oil

Juniper Berry, another of Scotland’s native trees, was another natural choice for our blend. We source the Juniper Berry essential oil from a family-run business in Asia (due to a lack of production in Scotland) and we think it perfectly complements our forest scent’s essence with its fresh wood aroma. The oil itself creates a revitalising and purifying ambience. Commonly used in perfume, aromatherapy blends, diffusers, and room sprays, its uplifting fragrance enhances any sensory experience, bringing a touch of freshness and renewal to your space.

patchouli
Patchouli Essential Oil – Pogostemon Cablin Leaf Oil

We chose Patchouli essential oil as the final note in our forest blend for its warm, earthy aroma perfectly rounding out the fragrance to create a complete forest experience. With a rich history spanning centuries in Asia and the Middle East, Patchouli essential oil is cherished for its calming and grounding qualities – much like the serenity one feels when immersed in the heart of Scotland’s forests.

Our top tips for burning scented candles safely:
  • Choose a Safe Spot: Always place candles on a flat, heatproof surface, away from draughts, children, pets, and anything flammable.
  • Maintain Distance: If burning multiple candles, ensure they are at least 3 inches apart to prevent overheating.
  • Watch and Burn Wisely: Never leave a lit candle unattended. Keep it within eyesight and never burn for longer than 4 hours at a time.
  • Perfect the Burn: Trim the wick to 5mm before each use and allow the candle to burn until the melt pool reaches the edge.
  • Extinguish Properly:  Never burn your candle to the very bottom of the jar to avoid overheating and cracking the container.
Avoiding Candle Tunnelling

Have you ever noticed a candle burning only in the centre, leaving a tunnel and wasted wax around the edges?  This happens for one of two reasons:

  1. The wick might not be the right size.  A carefully selected and properly tested wick is essential for both the safety and performance of the candle.
  2. You may have extinguished the candle too soon during its first burn.

To prevent tunnelling, ensure your candle’s first burn lasts long enough for the melted wax to reach the edges of the jar creating a ‘full wax pool’.  On subsequent burns, the candle will follow this path, allowing you to enjoy all the fragranced wax without waste.

By following these simple steps you will get the most out of your candle and ensure it burns evenly and beautifully every time.
